From Humble Beginnings to Culinary Mastery
I’m William Smith, a passionate chef from Bermuda whose culinary journey began in my grandmother’s kitchen. Inspired by the rich flavors of Bermudian cuisine, I developed a fascination for cooking at a young age. At 16, I started working in a small local restaurant, where I fell in love with the energy and creativity of the kitchen.
Determined to refine my skills, I pursued formal training at a prestigious culinary school in America. Along the way, I faced criticism for my eccentric style and bold ideas, but I stayed true to my vision of blending traditional techniques with modern trends. My approach turned skeptics into admirers as I crafted visually stunning and flavorful dishes.
Today, I’m celebrated for my creativity, sustainable cooking practices, and ability to make food fun and meaningful. My story is a testament to resilience, authenticity, and the belief that great food brings people together.

Discover Chef Will Smith's Culinary Journey
I started my culinary journey as a teenager working at an airport café while attending CedarBridge Academy in Bermuda. Balancing school and work wasn’t easy, but the kitchen quickly became my second classroom. I still remember the early mornings, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and the rush of travelers passing through.
At first, I was just flipping burgers and prepping sandwiches, but I treated every task like an opportunity to learn. I experimented with flavors, asked endless questions, and soaked up every bit of advice from the chefs around me. That small café taught me the value of hard work, time management, and staying calm under pressure—skills that still define me today.
It was there, in that busy kitchen, that I realized cooking wasn’t just a job for me—it was my passion. That passion pushed me to dream bigger, work harder, and trust my instincts, setting the foundation for the chef I am today.

During my culinary journey in Bermuda, where I gained experience across various restaurants, I learnt everything from seafood preparation to international techniques. Each kitchen taught me valuable lessons, and I worked my way up by embracing every challenge and opportunity.
Seeking to broaden my horizons, I traveled to the UK, learning daily from chefs worldwide. Whether in London or smaller towns, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse chefs, each shaping my style and pushing my creativity. Every experience brings me closer to the chef I aim to be.
